2xDMC Champion, Dubspot Program Director, Traktor poster boy and Hot Mom USA label boss, DJ Shiftee has joined forces with Mishka accomplice and NYC party instigator Badman Shark for the “dark and pounding” ‘EKG Riddm’. Released on Slit Jockey (Seclusiasis’ grimey counterpart), the EP features a host of remixes from the likes of Mr. Mitch, Spooky, Jakes and J.Beatz.

Seclusiasis and its grime-focused counterpart Slit Jockey have been entwined since day one, with cross-pollination being an integral part of their mission statement. However, it’s only in the last year or so that the two labels have really stepped up their collaboration with the Seclus Jockey series becoming more prolific than ever.

Another past KOTJ contributor, Dev79 recently dropped this little beauty and it’s possibly the most laid back release he’s put out in a while. Whatever you’re expecting, you’re not even close.
I first heard of Mr. Mitch when he remixed a previous Slit Jockey classic ‘Can’t Stop My Grime’ by J-Sweet. Since then, Miles Mitchell has been raising his game again and again with his uniquely forward-thinking brand of 8 bar grime.

Seclusiasis and its sister Slit Jockey really don’t have to much to earn their place on this page, but time and time again they exceed our expectations with something truly wonderful. This summer has been an exceptionally busy one for both imprints, with a slew of singles, compilations and LPs tumbling out one after another so it can get rather difficult to keep up with them all.
“Philly is ace cuz it’s raw like that. It’s a gritty, grimey city that loves to hate. Add to that the talent pool here is on some bonkers shit. So many crazy talented musicians and artists here that are straight murking shit. Yet getting shine here is often serious battle.
Sister to Seclusiasis, with largely the same personnel, Slit Jockey has been running parallel to its cohort with releases by a lot of the same artists and with little difference in their ethos. For fans of either (or both, of course), the latter are about to release SDUK‘s debut album ‘Anything Could Happen’.
“Emo purple future bass”. There’s a collection of words you don’t see together very often. Well, apparently it’s the style of music Sonkin created when he remixed Dev79‘s new collaborative single with Thrills.

OK, so I know I’m a little late getting to this one but it’s still totally worth a mention. Teaming up with Londoner Slix (of Ruff Sqwad fame), Gair “Dev79” Marking brings us his latest EP ‘Get 2 Know’ on his own Slit Jockey label.
The separate entities known as Slit Jockey and Seclusiasis have come together under the name Seclus Jockey to give you some free stuff, and boy is this some nice stuff. First in the line of freebies is a collaboration between SDUK and Halp.
In addition to the string of free releases, Seclusiasis will be releasing a free package of bootlegs from some of the Seclusiasis team; including Dev79, Siyoung and BD1982. There’s even a couple of tracks from people who haven’t contributed to our podcast – if you can believe that.
Finally, on top of that they’ll be releasing the fifth volume of the ‘Street Bass Anthems’ tapes in August. You can grab SDUK and Halp’s collaborative effort ‘Lunge’ below.
