While I’m not the world’s biggest fan of trap, all that means is that I just have a low threshold for the bad stuff. Fortunately, King‘s debut album in no way falls into this category. King’s dedication to his craft, his open-mindedness towards other styles and his refusal to be constrained to one style or genre will surely help the Sin City producer to carve out a lasting career in the world of electronica.
It may seem hard to believe, but after all these years this is actually Starkey‘s debut EP for his own Seclusiasis label. Having released two volumes of the Street Bass Anthems series and a hard-hitting 12″ with Trim and Leah Smith, Starkey is finally read to release an EP on the label.

I must profess I hadn’t heard of Warsnare before Seclusiasis big cheese Dev79 sent me his new EP, but one thing’s for sure: ‘Brutalist’ is set to be one of 2013′s finest releases.
2xDMC Champion, Dubspot Program Director, Traktor poster boy and Hot Mom USA label boss, DJ Shiftee has joined forces with Mishka accomplice and NYC party instigator Badman Shark for the “dark and pounding” ‘EKG Riddm’. Released on Slit Jockey (Seclusiasis’ grimey counterpart), the EP features a host of remixes from the likes of Mr. Mitch, Spooky, Jakes and J.Beatz.

Seclusiasis and its grime-focused counterpart Slit Jockey have been entwined since day one, with cross-pollination being an integral part of their mission statement. It’s been a little long while since our last podcast from Last Japan, but by god it’s worth the wait! Initially, I wasn’t totally sold on Trap, but Aquadrop (whose “Landscapes…” EP on Seclusiasis sent me giddy recently) has put together just under half an hour of some of the finest Trap cuts going, blending them effortlessly with dubstep and even some trance.
