Julio Bashmore to release collaborative track with Kowton

Julio BashmoreWell, it looks like Mr. Bashmore’s done it again, albeit with a little help. Julio Bashmore and Kowton have put together one of the most perfect house tracks; no fuss, only three or four different elements and each one perfectly executed.

Julio Bashmore unleashes ‘Husk’ B-side

julioAbout a month ago, Julio Bashmore previewed what would be the third release on his already massive label Broadwalk Records. That track was ‘Husk’, a modest yet upbeat exploration of the more mellow side of house music.

Maddslinky to release next Broadwalk 12″

Julio Bashmore‘s nascent Broadwalk Records have announced their next record will be a 12″ single from Zed Bias under his Maddslinky alias. From the sound of things it’s somewhat of a departure from Broadwalk’s first release, Bashmore’s phenomenal, slow-slung classic ‘Au Seve’, bringing in elements of tech house into the downtempo, minimal mix.

Julio Bashmore starts new label

So apparently you can’t really claim to have “made it” unless you’ve started your own record label; Scuba, Kode9, Flying Lotus and countless more would testify to this. Joining that list comes Julio Bashmore, one of the new faces in Radio 1′s “In New DJs We Trust” lineup.

Mosca and Julio Bashmore added to Radio 1 lineup

If you’re a resident of these gloomy shores we call the United Kingdom, you more than likely aware of BBC Radio 1‘s “In New DJs We Trust”. If not, every now and again a collection of relatively new producers and DJs to rotate the Thursday night 9-10pm (GMT) slot a week for 36 weeks. The newest crop of producers selected for the rotation are blog favourites Mosca, Julio Bashmore, B. Traits, and Jordan Suckley.

New Julio Bashmore single on 3024

If you like your house deep and moody then Julio Bashmore is your man. His new EP, whimsically titled ‘Batty Knee Dance’, on 3024 is chock full of growing synths backed by a bouncey 808 beat that stops things collapsing in on themselves.

The digital release includes a third track that has more of a disco and Chicago house tinge. The kind folks at 3024 have kindly uploaded previews of each track to their Soundcloud page for your perusal. Grab it now from all the usual places.

Check out Ramadanman as Maurice Donovan

As aliases go, Maurice Donovan is probably one of my favourites. It is, of course, not the first time Mr. Kennedy aka Ramadanman has assumed a different moniker, having previously released several highly sought-after 12″s as Pearson Sound (as well as a stunning Fabric mix earlier this year).

It appears that this new guise is nothing short of a full blown alter-ego; a veteran Chicago house producer with a bit of a mouth on him by all accounts. You may remember his remix of Julio Bashmore’s storming ‘Battle For Middle You’ not so long back, well now it’s time for his debut single.

The new release features two tracks, ‘Babeh’ and ‘Satisfied’, and is due out in late April via the SSSSS label. In the meantime, head on over to FACT to stream the new single.
