Arguably the originator of the “post-dubstep” sound, Burial has never stopped piquing the interest of the bloggerati – and this new single for Hyperdub is no exception. The A-side takes the form of the long-anticipated track ‘Truant aka One/Two’ and its as moody as ever, making for a perfect listen now that the days seem to last no longer than 15 minutes.
London trio LV have announced they are working on the follow-up to the hugely well-received ‘Routes’ LP, narrated so perfectly by guest vocalist Joshua Idehen. The new LP ‘Sebenza’, which is to be released imminently on Hyperdub, will draw heavily on their love of South African house and will not feature vocalist Joshua Idehen.

Scottish/German duo Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland, aka Hype Williams, recently gave an interview with the Guardian in which they announced the release of a new 33-track collection. This comes ahead of their new studio album ‘Black Is Beautiful’ later this month.
One of Grime’s true originators, DVA, has announced he will be releasing his debut vocal-heavy album ‘Pretty Ugly’ through Hyperdub Records. The album – which is to be released March 20 – features a bewildering array of vocal contributions, including Fatima, Vikter Duplaix and Zaki Ibrahim among others.
The first release since ‘Street Halo’ in March, Burial is back with a brand new EP of originals. Besides his collaborations with Massive Attack, Thom Yorke and Four Tet, there hasn’t been a huge amount from Burial this year – not to be dismissive of those projects.
To take on the task of remixing a revered bit of work like 2007′s ‘Shell Of Light’ is nothing short of ambitious – and brave for that matter. The reputation of Burial’s work precedes it; the cultural status of the record has rendered it archetypal Dubstep as well as a precursor for the “post-Dubstep” movement in equal measures.
To improve upon a track like this is no mean feat, but Shlohmo is actually pretty restrained in his approach. Slowing it down to almost half speed, he basically just spreads the sounds out, allowing them to breathe. The haunting vocals are subdued slightly, but the beautiful ethereal quality is left intact; a must for this track.
