Arc Rev One delivers Transference track for Circadian Tales compilation

Circadian TalesEvery now and again you here something so out there, so different and unique that it restores your faith in modern music to unquestioning devotion. These last couple of weeks have seen quite a few examples of this and Arc Rev One‘s new track ‘Transference’ seems set to further that trend.

KOTJ Radio | Episode 39: Cuttooth

CuttoothNick “Cuttooth” Cooke first came to my attention with his truly stunning collaboration with King Midas Sound’s Kiki Hitomi on the track ‘Old Tape Machine‘. Cuttooth is essentially a hip-hop producer, but in the loosest possible terms. His beats do stick more or less to hip-hop constraints, yet there’s so much besides that; folk, IDM, soul, funk and shoegaze all get a look in. But it’s his work with vocalists that really shines through. Besides his work with Hitomi, Cuttooth has long been collaborating with Bridie Jackson (another well-known face in the North East music scene), most notably on ‘Cold Moon‘.

Benjamin Damages remixesIt has recently been announced that 50Weapons will be releasing a 12″ white label of two remixes of Benjamin Damage‘s ‘Delirium Tremens’. Throwing Snow collides with Augustus Ghost for Snow Ghosts project

Throwing Snow and Augustus GhostIt seems there’s a new collaboration just about every day, most of which fizzle out either because of conflicted schedules or because there was only ever a finite amount of mileage in the collected creativity. It is with a certain degree of trepidation then that I bring you news of a partnership between Throwing Snow and vocalist Augustus Ghost.

Take a listen to Nosaj Thing’s remix of Jon Hopkins

Jon HopkinsPrimarily known for his frequent collaborations with everyone from Brian Eno to Coldplay, Jon Hopkins‘ solo work has tragically been overshadowed somewhat by these partnerships. Well, if this Nosaj Thing remix is anything to go by then that should all be about to change.

Video: Kowton & Julio Bashmore – Mirror Song

Review: King – Koncepts

King - KonceptsWhile I’m not the world’s biggest fan of trap, all that means is that I just have a low threshold for the bad stuff. Fortunately, King‘s debut album in no way falls into this category. King’s dedication to his craft, his open-mindedness towards other styles and his refusal to be constrained to one style or genre will surely help the Sin City producer to carve out a lasting career in the world of electronica.

Roots Manuva and Hiem team up for some low-slung funk

HiEMFor the promo blurb to describe this collaborative track between Hiem and Roots Manuva as “eccentric” is probably going a little far, but it’s still a nice sun-kissed slab of funk and it’s perfect for the summer.
