The Melbourne-based duo – Conrad Standish (bass/vocal) and Tom Carlyon (guitar/electronics) – haven’t quite marked out the reputation they deserve but with a small New York tour on the way I can’t imagine it will be long. To celebrate their tour they’re giving away HTRK‘s remix of the increasingly ubiquitous ‘Nono/Yoyo’, a crushing dirge (and I mean that in a good way) of industrial electronica that will give you arrhythmia if you’re not careful.
You may remember some time back I got rather excited about an upcoming collaboration between TOKiMONSTA and the truly legendary Ultramagnetic MCs founder Kool Keith. Well the wait is finally over as TOKiMONSTA’s ‘Half Shadows’ LP has been released and we now have news we will be treated to an EP of remixes of the collaboration.

It seems odd that Raffertie has yet to release his debut album. Having kept atop of the heavy bass, minimal house and dubstep scenes, you’d be forgiven for think Raffertie has been going for longer than he has.
Following on from label heads L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok, the elusive Girl Unit has now contributed the third mix in the Night Slugs mixtape series, blending a range of sounds from the likes of Ikonika, DJ Technics, Kingdom and Jam City. Aside from the usual new, classic and unreleased tracks that often comprise a mixtape, Girl Unit also snuck in an upcoming treat from a possible new release.
Ahead of his upcoming EP, Canadian-born Ryan Hemsworth has let slip a track that marks the irrefutable beginning of summer. Full of laid back synth washes and full-bodied live drums, ‘Perfectly’ may not be quite what we’re used to, but you can hardly criticise him for that.
Every now and again you here something so out there, so different and unique that it restores your faith in modern music to unquestioning devotion. These last couple of weeks have seen quite a few examples of this and Arc Rev One‘s new track ‘Transference’ seems set to further that trend.
It has recently been announced that 50Weapons will be releasing a 12″ white label of two remixes of Benjamin Damage‘s ‘Delirium Tremens’. The first will be an overwhelming slab of chugging Detroit techno from Robert Hood backed up by an elongated reworking from the man himself on the reverse.
Jasper “Groundislava” Patterson, son of Michael Patterson (who directed the video for ‘Take On Me’ by A-Ha and Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract’), has just announced the release of a brand new remix package as well as a US Tour with oOoOO.
One of my new favourite bands, RocketNumberNine are riding really high right now. Their recent double A-side ‘Roseland / Metropolis’ exploded all over the blog scene and beyond and their new single ‘Deadly Buzz’ – taken from their upcoming album – looks set to continue that trend.
It seems there’s a new collaboration just about every day, most of which fizzle out either because of conflicted schedules or because there was only ever a finite amount of mileage in the collected creativity. It is with a certain degree of trepidation then that I bring you news of a partnership between Throwing Snow and vocalist Augustus Ghost.
