Civil Music‘s Reso is an interesting character. Not once have I known what to expect from one of his tracks; will it be downtempo house? Jungle? Grime? Dubstep? Techno, even? Of course, this makes his releases all the more exciting.
With two major releases on the way – the ‘Check 1, 2′ EP and his album ‘Tangram’ – there was always going to be a surplus of material. Which is why he’s delightfully let slip this little bonus track he made during the sessions for the new releases.
‘Aegis’ is a rare breed of track; jittery drums constantly threaten to break out into full-blown drum & bass whilst always keeping you guessing. As per usual, Reso chooses to ignore the obvious and takes things in a completely different direction as he incorporates ambient techno and some very chillwave-esque synth patterns that echo and shimmer, evoking prog rock as much as it does downtempo house music.
