At the end of this month Ghislain Poirier will be releasing his latest EP ‘Kidnap Riddim’. As ever this new release will feature a bewildering array of guest vocalists and MCs, including Haitian-Canadian Mr. OK.
Besides the release date and the artwork there isn’t a huge amount of information to go off. What is clear, according to Mixpak, is that (in addition to Mr. OK) Poirier has been working with five MCs from four different countries – Boogat & Madhi, Set & Match, Kween G and L’Xtrmst.Zen.
He did, however, let slip one track several months ago, around the time ‘Alert Riddim’ was released. That track is ‘Jokma’ and features the above mentioned Mr. OK, whose relaxed, Creole vocals sit perfectly atop minimalist synth stabs and off-kilter dancehall(-ish) beats.
‘Jokma’ has been floating around the internet since early June (having been previewed on the radio before that) but I thought it would be a good time to remind you of it. You can stream it below before buying the record on 28th September when it comes out.
