Self-confessed “bashful video gamer” Jasper Patterson, aka Groundislava, has just released his debut album ‘Feel Me’ on Friends Of Friends. In the build up to the release he made the first single from the album, ‘Cool Party’, available for free streaming at the beginning of the month.
In case you missed it, we’ve got the Soundcloud link for you to get a little taster before you buy it. And why wouldn’t you? The track itself is built around a sample from Chrono Trigger and, would you believe it, Troll 2.
Clearly a man who celebrates cult gems like B-move sequels that surpass their originals (here’s hoping for an Evil Dead II sample in his next single), Patterson in turn has become celebrated the underground, spoken of only in hushed tones by the kind of skinny-jean wearing, video game-playing hipsters we all fervently deny being.
