Things have been rather quiet in the Maribou State camp recently. With just a few remixes and an EP out this year, one could speculate that perhaps the London duo are working on something altogether more substantial than the carefully crafted remixes they’ve been knocking out for only the most esteemed members of the electronic community.
That is, however, pure conjecture and, as a journalist, bad form. Even worse than the number of commas in that last sentence.
Self-congratulating wankery aside, a new remix of theirs – this time for Submotion Orchestra – was posted on their Soundcloud just days ago. Of course, now that we have it, it seems bizarre that the two were never paired up before.
It’s everything one would expect from the duo and more; the acoustic approach to warm, soul and jazz-inspired bass music fits perfectly with Maribou State’s deep, soulful take on downtempo house and bass music. The Maribou State remix of ‘Blindspot’ is available for free download below alongside the release of the original which is available here on Exceptional Records.
