Brighton-based producer Ambassadeurs aka Mark Dobson has had my attention for a while, taking the templates and palettes of a wide range of genres and putting them through a blender, chopping and screwing samples from juke, hip-hop, house and trap with reckless abandon.
For someone with such a staggeringly low output, Joe is a highly regarded producer in the post-dubstep arena. With only three singles and the track ‘Twice’ emerging on the ’116 & Rising’ compilation last year, Joe has seemingly perfected the art of “treat ‘em mean, keep ‘em keen’.
Self-confessed “bashful video gamer” Jasper Patterson, aka Groundislava, has just released his debut album ‘Feel Me’ on Friends Of Friends. In the build up to the release he made the first single from the album, ‘Cool Party’, available for free streaming at the beginning of the month.
Bespoke beat-wizard Daedelus has always been known for his unique arrangements and off-kilter percussion, so naturally his remixes tend to take tracks a million miles from their starting point. Case in point: his new remix of Purity Ring‘s ‘Cartographist’.
Manchester’s Ryan Hunn aka Illum Sphere will be dropping his new 12″ single for Young Turks early next month. The double A-side ‘Birthday’ b/w ‘H808ER’ will see a digital release prior to the limited vinyl run.
The somewhat enigmatic Gerry Read has been hard at work in his Bury St. Edmunds abode finishing up work on his new single and subsequent album. The single ‘Evidence’ (which you can stream below) is set for a 16 September release and will be followed by the ‘Jummy’ LP in October.

Apart from a DJ mix with DJ Spinna and a couple of singles, it’s been a while since we’ve heard much from Mr. Scruff, but he’s back with a new 12″ single for his beloved Ninja Tune pals entitled ‘Be The Music’ b/w ‘Nervous Energy’ and it’s something of a new direction from the tea-slurping master of whimsy.
