It was only a matter of time before David “Pearson Sound” Kennedy threw caution to the wind and jumped into bed with Boddika and Joy Orbison. Their knack for blending techno, garage and IDM seems to come naturally and in a way that doesn’t seem contrived or confused.
At the heart of this track is a fairly simple, yet unintelligible, vocal sample (begin to go weak? indigo week??) bolstered by a whisper of a drum beat and a monotonous, chugging synth riff that really does prove that “less is more”. Music for the wee small hours is what this trio seems to specialise in, either that or music for sitting in a really comfy armchair with the best headphones money can buy whilst drinking some of Yorkshire’s finest.
You can stream ‘Faint’ below via Boddika’s Soundcloud page ahead of its release this week. Little birdies all over the blog forest (Sorry, I’ve been watching Game of Thrones) tell me there will be more to come from the trio, possibly an EP.
