Equal parts Prince and Four Tet, Jai Paul‘s productions have been sparse if nothing else. Having heard nothing from the young producer since he kicked open the blogosphere with more than a little support from the BBC, his Soundcloud page appears to indicate he’s back in the game with this new demo.
A pulsing bass throb gives way to a clouded vocal melody over a simple, muffled guitar riff. The pattern’s a lot simpler than ‘BTSTU’ but its composition in turn is decidedly more complicated.
There’s little information about the track, thought it will be his next single on XL. So can we assume the big label scrap over Jai Paul is over? Can we expect an album? The answers to all these questions and more are nowhere to be found so just listen to it and enjoy it.
