With more and more people kicking against the digital file format and the loss of physicality in music, vinyl sales are on the rise, CDs are still widely bought and even cassettes have a niche in the market. It’s not just consumer’s seeking out tangible forms of music either, a lot of artists are now lamenting the mp3 and its effect on physical formats.
One such artist, Nicolas Jaar, has decided to act on this growing interest by throwing his own suggestion into the ring. Here Jaar and his associates at the Clown & Sunset Aesthetics present something they call “The Prism”, a self-contained cube that needs neither a media player, CD drive or stereo. In fact, all one needs is a set of headphones which can be plugged into one of two audio jacks.
The 12-track collection entitled ‘Don’t Break My Love’ will feature “mostly unreleased” tracks by a number of CSA affiliates including Jaar himself. You can grab your copy on May 1.
