Gorillaz team up with James Murphy and Andre 3000 for Converse

Since the whole idea of “selling out” is about as relevant and contemporary as woolly mammoths and the printed press, why not make a quid? Besides, nobody buys records anymore and staying in is the new going out.

Anyway, that brief – albeit obtuse and conceited – rant aside, this is actually something I’m excited about. Jamie Hewlett (the visual side of Gorillaz) has already designed four trainers for Converse, so the pairing starts to make a lot of sense.

To coincide with the four special edition trainers, Converse have asked Gorillaz to produce a track with Outkast‘s Andre 3000 and LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy as part of their “Three Artists, One Song” project. The track is to be called ‘DoYaThing’ and will be made available for download on February 23.
