Well, apparently 2012 really is the year for “less is more”. While the trend has been making itself known for a few years now, it seems us Johnny-come-latelys are finally catching on.
Step forward, Teebs; a producer who appears to be marking himself out as a megastar in the making, hugely versatile and imaginative with his wildly unexpected takes on tracks from others as well as his own stark productions. Crafting echoey drum loops, shimmering synths, pitched up vocals and an ethereal yet minimal guitar sample, Teebs takes Shlohmo’s ‘wen uuu’ into the lo-fi downtempo territory of Night Slugs or Hessle luminaries.
