Dead Can Dance confirm rumours of new LP

Iconic post-punk pioneers Dead Can Dance have finally committed to a followup to 1996′s ‘Spiritchaser’. Adding Folk, Middle Eastern influences and Medieval music into the Post Punk/Goth movement, Dead Can Dance marked themselves out as being a cut above the narrow horizons of contemporaries

Having reached their pinnacle with ‘Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun’ in 1989, the band were under considerable pressure to meet these heights, ultimately leaving the band stale and with a bad taste in their mouths before slowly imploding in the late nineties. Since then, however, the duo (Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry) regrouped in 2005 for a series of live performances before finally broaching the subject of new material.

Perry announced their plans via their own website back in May 2011, stating “I have been talking with Lisa Gerrard this past week with regard to recording a new DCD album this coming winter… We hope to complete the album by the summer of 2012 and then embark on an extensive two month world tour in late 2012.”
