Originally due for a December release, Pinch (above) and Shackleton‘s joint album has been on the cards for the best part of a year. The album is out now on Damon Albarn’s Honest Jon’s Records.
The more discerning Dubstep fan will have known about this release for a while and will be looking forward to followups to both ‘Underwater Dancehall’ and ‘Three EPs’ from Pinch and Shackleton respectively. So I’m sure much excitement will abound that both needs will be met in one fell swoop.
Drawing together patches of Dub, Techno, Hip-Hop and at times “Middle Eastern percussion”, Pinch and Shackleton maintain constant variation and tumult for an involving listen. Entitled simply ‘Pinch And Shackleton’, it’s as understated and modest as the name suggests.
The first single from the album will be ‘Boracay Drift’ which is to be backed up by a remix from Morphosis. Having said that, you won’t find ‘Boracay Drift’ on any version of the album but the CD version.
