Download LV’s remix of Caged Animals

They say three’s a crowd, which would explain why LV rarely work without a guest producer or vocalist. The ‘Beacon’ 12″ with Untold, the ‘Boomslang’ 12″ with Okmalumkoolkat and the ’38′ EP with Josh Idehen all stand as testament to this.

So it seemed apt that they should team up with vocalist Josh Idehen again for their debut LP ‘Routes’. Although LV have been bubbling along for a while now, the collaborative singles and EPs from last year and the LP have led to a flood of remix commissions, as is the custom of the day.

The latest in what is sure to be a long line of remixes is of Brooklyn-based band Caged Animals, transforming their ‘Girls On Medication’ track with ambient synths and sparse cymbals and drum patterns. Download it below and then listen to everything LV have ever recorded. Ever.

Pre-order Rustie’s debut album

After a lot of speculation about the Glaswegian beatmaker, Rustie has announced that the follow-up to his first EP on Warp will be a full-length album. The debut LP, entitled ‘Glass Swords’, is to be released on October 10.

Check out a preview of the title track (and opener of the album) below and then pre-order the album from Bleep.

Stream The Count & Sinden’s Mega Mega Mega remix LP

Apparently it’s never too late to release a remix album. While I would tend to disagree with that assertion, The Count & Sinden do not share my beliefs, shamelessly releasing a star-studded album of reworkings from the likes of Canblaster, Dave Nada, XXXY and some other people.

I have to admit, ‘Mega Mega Mega’ was a pretty solid house album; it straddled the boundaries between Garage, Techno, Dubstep, Electro and Hip-Hop and they did it pretty damn well. Of course, they’re playing a dangerous game, dancing so closely to the edge of banality, but this remix package works in their favour.

The album is to be released next week on Domino, but you can listen to the whole thing below through the magic of Soundcloud and then download Lone’s remix of ‘Addicted To You’ below that.

New Curb-inspired track from Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team

Sound Pellegrino Thermal TeamSo it seems Sound Pellegrino‘s Teki Latex and DJ Orgasmic (aka The Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team) are as obsessed with Curb Your Enthusiasm as I am. In fact, this latest track urges the listener to “do the Larry David” by looking suspiciously at someone whilst tilting your head at a funny angle. And who needs meaningful lyrics about love, hurt and wonderment at the universe when you can reference a TV show? All in the name of post-modernity, right?

From what I can gather from their Soundcloud page, the track will appear on the ‘Bassface Remixes’ EP out on Sound Pellegrino on August 8. I’m told you’ll be able to get it from all the usual online tune-peddlers.

Listen to M.I.A.’s tribute to Amy Winehouse

As we all know Amy Winehouse was found dead on Saturday afternoon. The cause of death remains unexplained.

Regardless of your opinions of her as a singer or a person, it’s a tragedy and these lyrics are hauntingly appropriate.

According to her twitter page: “i recorded this song B4 vickileekx and never put it out. its a unfinished demo,” before adding “R.I.P A.M.Y.”
