Hyperdub to put out the next DOK release

In the confusing world of post-Dubstep Dubstep, one needs stability. One needs labels and artists to guide us through this baffling world of Future Garage, Funky, Bass, Drumstep and Deep House. So who better than the knowlegable chaps at Hyperdub?

They’re following a strong succession of releases, including the Kode9 & Spaceape LP and releases from Burial and Funkystepz, with the new EP from D.O.K., formerly associated with Terror Danjah’s now defunct Grime label Aftershock. The new release is set to feature his trademark Grime, with the dubbier, techier sounds that Hyperdub is known for.

The new release, entitled ‘West Coast’ features the original, a VIP mix and a b-side track ‘East Coast’ and comes out on June 27 via Hyperdub.

New LP from Processory on Sugarcane

The collaboration between Jori Hulkkonen and Jerry Valuri, Processory, has been kind enough to make their new album ‘Change Is Gradual’ available for streamification on their Soundcloud. Besides that, there’s a remix EP floating about, featuring the likes of Aeroplane, Hercules & The Love Affair, CFCF, Siyoung and more!

You may already know Jori Hulkkonen as the man behind remixes for the likes of Chromeo and Kid Cudi, but with long-term collaborator and friend Jerry Valuri, he has formed Processory; a lo-fi electronica band working outside the club-friendly arena of electronic music. Their first album in 2007 demonstrated a disregard for uptempo club music, embracing a more synth-oriented brand of darkwave and the new LP carries on that sound.

The new LP comes out May 31, but if you can’t wait until then, stream the album below for free and then download ‘All Good Things’ from the album at the bottom.

KOTJ Radio | Episode 17: Siyoung

It’s been a little while since our last podcast, but gee whizz has Siyoung raised the bar with his mix! It’s largely a Funky affair, with a few House and Techno leanings dotted around, and it’s absolutely crammed with classics and what we in the industry like to call “bangers”.

If you don’t know Siyoung or Seeyoung then you really need to reevaluate your self-appointed status as “music fan”. He’s been rumbling along for a while, playing some of the most storming parties in Philadelphia and the world. And now he’s kindly offered up a mixtape for our modest, if not tardy, podcast series.

Drop The Lime signs to Ultra and AC Slater gives you the shirt off his back

Wow, big day for Trouble & Bass: Drop The Lime, ahead of the release of his new LP in September, has signed to gargantuan independent (make of that what you will) imprint Ultra. In addition to that, his bestest pal AC Slater has been giving away one bootleg every week this month,

Yes, it came to his attention that his recent tour in Australia may have made the rest of planet Earth feel rather neglected and malnourished. In light of this, he’s not only thrown remixes at us like it were steak dinners in a soup kitchen, he’s also recorded four hour-long mixes for the ever-brilliant Triple J Radio.

You can grab the whole lot at his Soundcloud page. If you still need persuading, you should download this track and then punch yourself hard in the kidneys.

Kingdom’s contribution to the EP, a dark, choppy banger called “Uptown Buck,” for free download. Some of you may recognize the cut-up vocals, harrowing synths, and slap-you-in-the-face drum programming of this particular cut from when it first appeared early on in the man’s stellar XLR8R podcast back in March, but now the tune is finally seeing a proper release as part of the NY-themed compilation. So get to downloading the track below and keep a look out for the Sounds of New York EP, set to drop tomorrow with efforts from Michna, Cubic Zirconia, Drop the Lime, and Hussle Club alongside this delicious slice of Kingdom-ness.
