I’ve always loved the party music Mr. Forrest makes as DJ Donna Summer but it’s the music released under his own name that I discovered first and will always love. Take his new single ‘Raunchy’ for example; chopped up disco and guitar samples create a genre all of their own.
Ever since his first LP as Jason Forrest (the ingeniously titled ‘The Unrelenting Songs Of The 1979 Post Disco Crash’), I’ve enjoyed watching his style evolve and grow into something absolutely stunning. The sheer volume and range of samples hints at what must be nothing short of a gargantuan record collection. As always, it’s pretty much impossible to work out where these samples come from but who cares! This is fucking great music in its own right.
Anyway, sycophancy aside, here’s the ball-achingly good original and you grab the whole thing from iTunes including a wicked remix from Jokers Of The Scene.
