KOTJ Radio | Episode 11: Chrissy Murderbot

It seems to be a running theme in this radio series that we feature long-running artists whose music spans a lot of genres. In the spirit of repeating oneself endlessly, here’s Chrissy Murderbot.

When jungle made a comeback about 5-10 years ago (around the time breakcore took off), there were a few big names who really stood out and surpassed the limits of the genre. They were DJ C, Bong-Ra, Aaron Spectre and, of course, Chrissy Murderbot (back then simply Murderbot).

Since then, he’s made electro, happy hardcore, dubstep, dancehall, hip-hop, R&B, juke, disco and pretty much everything else. Along with the wealth of strong releases on his own label, Sleazetone, his Year Of Mixtapes project was a colossus of variety – spanning pretty much every type of electronic music.

Almost a year ago, I met Chrissy at Bangface festival; shortly after he promised to contribute a mix to our precious series. And now he’s finally made good on that promise! It may have been a long time coming, but by god it was worth the wait!

It’s primarily a juke/footwork affair with elements of UK Funky, Dubstep, Electro and Dancehall sprinkled throughout. More exciting still, it also features five whole tracks from his forthcoming LP on Planet Mu.
